Biography

Hello. I’m Dan Lodge and I’ve been the Labour Candidate for Wimbledon Labour Party since 2007.

From the moment I was chosen as PPC I’ve worked hard to make life in Wimbledon better, working on a number of topical and hard-hitting local campaigns.

Firstly, I championed the greater use of recycling – both in the provision of services and in offering wheelie bins for those residents that want them. I have also campaigned for special litter bins for chewing gum and cigarette butts.

When the Tory Council threatened to close the local All Saints Day Centre, users of the disability centre felt let down.  A campaign started and our team produced 40,000 leaflets to help publicise the good work of the centre and the lack of alternative provision for its users, local Tories did a u-turn.

On a national level, I am a confirmed anti-war protestor; I marched against the invasion of Iraq in 2003 and again opposed military action in Iran in 2008.

I’m a modern campaigner and use Youtube and Facebook (Dan for Wimbledon) to keep residents and members up to date with our campaigns and events, and this has worked to great effect in building an enthusiastic and energetic team.

Professionally I'm a barrister. I was called to the bar in 1998 and have a special qualification as a level 3 prosecutor.
